A six-man, six-woman jury deliberated 15 minutes before finding Deampret “Dee” Leon Miller, 42, guilty of drug-related charges after a one-day trial before Circuit Judge Tom Head in Elba.
“I am proud of the jury for sending a message to drug dealers,” said 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Tom Anderson following the verdict. “(Miller) has been selling drugs to those who are addicted for years, preying upon them for money.”
During the trial, jurors heard from three witnesses who testified that Miller had sold methamphetamine Sept. 9, 2014 in Elba at about 11:30 a.m.
Immediately following the jury verdict, Anderson asked the court to revoke any existing bond for Miller, citing a new arrest on another charge.
Bond was revoked after Head heard testimony from Dale County Sheriff's Investigator Marc Ross, who investigated the case.
Miller remains in Coffee County Jail waiting sentencing Aug. 4.
