CCBOE approves budget amendment, personnel changes

The Coffee County Board of Education voted to amend the budget for fiscal year 2016 during a special-called meeting on Thursday, June 23.

According to Superintendent Terry Weeks, the budget would include federal carryover funds and revised allocation funds not used during the previous fiscal year.

There was about $190,000 in federal carryover and revised allocation funds added to the budget.

The board also approved the following personnel changes:

Employments:

Blake Van Winkle- teacher/band director at Kinston School;

Emily Robinson- system-wide special education teacher/speech-language pathologist;

Ryan McNaughton- agriscience teacher at Zion Chapel School;

Valinda Nelson- family and consumer science teacher at Zion Chapel School;

Shannon Elmore- instructional aide at Kinston School; and,

Resignations:

Dillon Worley- teacher/band director at Kinston School.

The board met for an executive session regarding possible legal action. There were no votes or decisions made during or after the executive session.

The next regular board meeting will be held on Thursday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Office in Elba.
