The city of Enterprise is preparing to begin a more than $1 million sewer project that will replace piping from Boll Weevil Circle near Plaza Drive to Highway 134.

Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell said depending on funding, the project may continue past Highway 134 and on to the city's southeast lagoon.

The project is being funded in portion by an Environmental Protection Agency grant the city received in 2010.

The city will need to fund 55 percent of the project to match the EPA's $490,000 grant.

Bids for the project were read Dec. 12 from about 20 contractors and the city council should be awarding the contract in January.
