Six members of Enterprise High School's Interact Club had the opportunity to attend the 2016 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards at Camp ASCCA on Lake Martin on March 10-13.

The students were separated into groups with other Interact members from across the state. Throughout the conference, the teams would participate in different activities promoting teamwork.

"(We learned) everyone's different," Interact member Briana Deuitch said. "It opens your eyes to see how many people there are and how much you can learn by participating in groups."

Interact member Nickolas Baston said the group work helped bring the group members together, despite being from different schools.

"It kind of (works) with school, too," Deuitch said. "It teaches you how to communicate better as a team."

Though many of the group that attended RYLA are graduating or moving, they said they would go back if they could.

"It hurt to leave," Interact member Enrique Lampón said about leaving. "As I was sitting in my mom's car, it just kind of hit me that I wasn't going to see these people again for a long time."

The Interact Club, made of students in grades 9-12, is a service club sponsored by the two Enterprise Rotary Clubs.

Interact member Kathlyn Boisclair said the group works in the community, such as going "to the elementary schools to talk to the kids about leadership and character."

The group spoke to the Rotary Club during its meeting on Tuesday, March 29, about their experience.
