The Daleville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors accepted the resignation of executive director Kay Kirkland on Oct. 11.
"I have greatly mixed emotions as I leave the Daleville Area Chamber of Commerce as its executive director,” Kirkland said. “I leave a big part of my heart here in Daleville, the city that I first came to in 1991 and immediately fell in love with.”
Kirkland served as executive director for nearly four years.
She announced her resignation to accept another job opportunity.
Chamber treasurer Stacey Rand thanked Kirkland for her past work and wished her well.
“The chamber wishes her well in her future endeavors,” Rand said.
Kirkland said she appreciated the opportunity to have served as chamber director and thanked the board, both past and present, city officials, law enforcement personnel and community for their support.
“I leave hoping that we made a difference and that we were heading in the right direction as we sought to grow and improve the chamber,” Kirkland said. “My great hope is that the chamber will move ahead with a renewed sense of excitement and engagement. My love will continue to be with the very special people of Daleville and the businesses and organizations that will shape the future of the city. I wish you all much success in the future."
The board will begin accepting applications for a new director in the coming weeks.
