Revenue Commissioner Ronnie Burns presented the county’s tax settlement during a short meeting of the Coffee County Commission June 10.
According to Burns, Coffee County received $4,250,419 in tax revenue during 2012, a $1,700 increase from 2011’s revenue report.
Though miniscule, Burns said the county had experience some slight economic growth throughout the year and is still fairing well in terms of revenue when compared to other Alabama counties.
Specifically, the county’s general fund as well as its roads and bridge fund saw slight reductions, as revenue in other areas was increased.
At Burns’ request, commissioners agreed to pass a motion accepting the insolvents, errors and supplements for 2012, which must be accepted each year in order to complete the state’s tax settlement.
The Coffee County Commission will meet again at 9 a.m., June 24, in the community room at the Coffee County Complex.
The county is planning a demonstration of its new tire-recycling center following the meeting. The center is located on Highway 125 north of Elba.
