The Coffee County 4-H Horse Club competed in the Alabama State 4-H Horse Show in Montgomery July 8-12.
All of the participants from the county did extremely well, according to Extension Coordinator David Garrett.
“We are so proud of the 4-H members, volunteer leaders and the parents as well,” Garrett said. “They represent Coffee County with the utmost respect and have great sportsmanship as well.”
Team member Selina Malone was named the Alabama State Education Senior Overall Champion and received the following accolades:
Second place, hunter hack; third place, individual presentation; third Place, public speaking; fifth place, hunter under saddle; fifth place, huntseat showmanship; fourth place, hunter mares; first place, team presentation; second place, black and white photo; second place, altered photo; second place, photo story; second place, model horse scene; fourth place, color photo; fifth place, consumer choice; fifth place, story; third place, judging placement; fourth place judging reasons and fourth place, judging overall.
Team member April Malone received the following accolades:
Second place, consumer choice; first place, team presentation; third place, hunter geldings, third place, hunter pony pleasure; fourth place huntseat equitation over fence; fourth place, hunter hack; first place, pony working hunter and second place, dressage.
Team member Amanda Stewart received the following accolades:
First place, dressage; third place, equitation over fences; third place, halter geldings; fifth place, hunter hack and first place, photo story
Katie Stewart was named Alabama State Huntseat Senior Overall Champion and received the following accolades:
First place, working hunter; first place, open jumping; second place, huntseat trail; second place equitation over fence; third place, equitation on the flat; fifth place, dressage; fifth place, halter gelding; third place, team presentation; third place, model horse scene; third place, digital altered photo and fourth place, creative writing.
Claire Eady was named, Alabama State Huntseat Junior Overall Champion, Alabama State Education Junior Reserve Overall Champion and received the following accolades:
First place, hunter hack; first place, huntseat trail; first place, showmanship; first place huntseat equitation on flat; second place, halter mares; third place, huntseat equitation over fence; third place, huntseat pleasure; first place, alter photo; second place, photo story; third place, team presentation; fourth place, creative writing; fourth place, color photo
Team members Madelyn Kelley, Lauren Gheres and Hailey Dalrymple also competed at the event and Mary Anne Beasock and Rene Mercer are the volunteer 4-H Horse Club’s leaders.
