Enterprise State Community College will present the musical comedy "Nunsense" Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. in Lolley Gymnasium.
The cast, which features ESCC students as well as community members, is hard at work preparing for the play.
"Nunsense" was created by Dan Goggin in 1985. The musical comedy features several of the 19 surviving Little Sisters of Hoboken. One of the sisters accidentally poisoned 52 of her fellow sisters and the rest were tasked with burying them. In order to raise the money for the burials, the sisters decide to perform a variety show.
The play features tap and ballet dancing, an audience quiz and plenty of surprises along with a live band.
Seth McCollough, a sophomore at ESCC, plays the role of Rev. Mother Mary Regina.
"It's been challenging," he said during a break in rehearsal on Thursday. "This is the first play I've ever done, so this has all been a learning experience for me. I've loved every minute of it."
Teresa Young, who plays Sister Mary Hubert, participated in the Enterprise Community Theater's production of "Music Man" last year. She's excited about participating in "Nunsense."
"I did one last year with the Enterprise Community Theater," Young said. "Other than that, it's been over 20 years since I've done a play. I'm excited. I've never had lines before and that's freaking me out."
ESCC freshman Jo Beth Workman plays the role of Sister Mary Lucy.
"It's part of my scholarship," she said. "I have a theater scholarship. I'm just really excited because it seemed like so much fun, and it is."
Tickets for the performances are available by calling 334-347-2623 ext. 2250. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.
