Enterprise area residents are urged to be alert to the increasing threat of inclement weather conditions here in the coming days as Hurricane Irma prepares to make landfall in Florida, is the statement in a news release from city of Enterprise Communications Director Jason Wright.

In the news release sent Friday, Sept. 8, near 5 p.m., Wright said the National Weather Service is predicting landfall of the extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane in the Southern peninsula of Florida over the weekend. Residents are asked to stay informed about changing weather conditions via local media outlets.

Mayor William Cooper and city leaders have met as a group along with members of the Coffee County Emergency Management Agency and are making preparations for whatever weather events may affect the local area.

Residents are asked to prepare a supply of non-perishable items for food and drink in the event of power outages, as well as medicines and other necessary supplies.

For other information related to the storm, please call the Wiregrass Area United Way’s 2-1-1. To reach this service on your phone, dial: 211.
