Seats are still available for the 18th Annual Coffee County Breast Cancer and Women's Health Issues Forum.
The forum will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Enterprise City School Service Center on Highway 84 next to Mitchell Nissan.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The registration table opens at 7:15 a.m.
This year, speakers will cover topics ranging from breast cancer history to the importance of self-exams.
Dr. Sam Sawyer, from Sawyer Surgery Clinic, will be speaking on the history of breast cancer and treatments.
"It's one of the best overviews I've ever seen," Coffee County Family Services Director Judy Crowley said. "We really want to set the stage for how much progress has been made."
Dr. William Beckett, from Radiology Associates of Dothan, will be speaking about early detection techniques and which kind is better for each person.
Dr. Lisa Malone, from Ladies First, will speak about hysterectomies and who needs what kind.
Dr. Jawaunna Blackman, from Dothan Hematology and Oncology, will speak about the side effects of chemotherapy and how oncologists decide who needs what kind of treatment.
Dr. William "Andy" Gammill, from Professional Medical Associates, will discuss prescription drugs.
Dr. Justin Martin, from Martin Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, will speak on what is new with reconstructive surgery.
Also, Lucille Willette will speak on the importance of self-exams.
Free lunch and entertainment will be provided at the event. Free CEU's are also available for nurses and social workers.
