The new Lions Club year started off with a program on one of the main projects list for the Daleville Lions Club.
This past June, the Daleville Lions Club sponsored five delegates to the Alabama Lions High School Leadership Forum at Troy University.
On August 5, the club members got to hear from each of the delegates and ask them several questions about their experiences as delegates.
The delegates talked about the keynote speaker at the forum, Mitch Matthews, and the Big Dream Gathering.
The delegates shared about the dreams they posted, especially about their future careers.
“It is clear we had some outstanding delegates representing Daleville at the forum,” President Angelia Filmore said.
The delegates also shared how they enjoyed Camp Butter and Egg (CB and E) and the Dog Patch Olympics.
The delegates enjoyed the zip lines at CB and E — two of the four zip lines went over a lake.
Several Daleville Lions volunteered at the forum including, Bill and Angelia Filmore and secretary of the forum, Claudia Wigglesworth.
William Filmore Jr. was named as the new executive director of the forum.
This call to local youth is part of the Engaging Our Youth Service Campaign, a Lions global campaign taking place during the month of August during which club members will help to promote volunteerism and engage young people.
“Sponsoring delegates to the forum gives us a chance to help young people to develop skills while emphasizing the role of service and the power of youth involvement,” Angelia Filmore said.
Lions Clubs are groups of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
