An Enterprise man crashed his car into a tree after leading police on a car chase across town Sunday morning.

Timothy Patrick Wells, 22, was taken to the emergency room at Enterprise Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries sustained in the crash. He was later transported to the Coffee County Jail where he was released Monday on $500 bond.

Enterprise Police spokesperson Billy Haglund said Wells was arrested at approximately 11 a.m. Sunday after leading police on a high-speed car chase from Wal-Mart to Dixie Drive in Enterprise.

Haglund said police patrol officers responded to a report of a suspected shoplifter fitting Wells' description, leaving Wal-Mart. Wells drove his vehicle, with officers in pursuit, to Dixie Drive.

Haglund said Wells drove his vehicle into a tree, and ran in an unsuccessful effort to elude officers.
