Superintendent Camille Wright thanked current board president Ross Cotter for his service to the school board.

"I've never met anybody that works as hard as you do," Wright said. "You held us accountable to be the best we can be."

Wright said Cotter put in a great deal of his time into the city's school system and in the process helped save money due to his close attention to the system's building projects and ensuring they were done correctly.

"You held our feet to the fire and we appreciate it," Wright said. "Thank you for your leadership."

Jones will take over as board president at the next regular school board meeting at 6 p.m., June 24.
