The Level Plains Police Department partnered with SpectreCare Health Systems to help keep prescription drugs off the street and out of the water on Thursday, July 9.
The Drug Enforcement Administration previously held a national event to help prevent prescription drug abuse, but it has since left the responsibility to community groups that focus on the issue.
SpectreCare also provided information on how to safely dispose of prescription drugs at home, such as mixing drugs in an undesirable substance then placing medicine in a sealable container.
The organization is planning on hosting more prescription drug events around the area.
