“This crazy, wonderful world works in many mysterious ways,” is the way Jenna Judah sums up she and Byron Strickland. With parents who have known each other since the 1970’s in high school, not many could have imagined this match would be made years later.
Judah and Strickland will be married Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Ozark with the reception at the Enterprise Civic Center. The ceremony spanning two neighboring cities is a perfect reflection of their lives.
Judah, the daughter of Sammy and Susan Judah and granddaughter of Durwood and JoAnn Judah grew up with her parents and older brother, Sam, in her father’s hometown of Ozark. Her mother, the daughter of the late Richard Earl Provin and Vivian “Dixie” Provin, grew up in Enterprise after her military family moved to Fort Rucker in 1963.
In Ozark, the Judah family has owned Circle Insurance Agency for approximately 40 years.
Strickland, the son of Shelly and Frances Strickland and grandson of the late Shelly and Lucy Strickland and Martha and the late Robert Foy, grew up in Enterprise with his brother Charlie and sister Sarah.
In Enterprise, the Strickland family has owned Strickland Jewelers for five generations.
“Even though I grew up in Ozark, my mom is from Enterprise so I knew many families there, including the Strickland family,” Judah explained, adding that she and her fiancé’s younger sister attended Camp Skyline together when they were young.
Judah is a 2011 graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark, and a 2015 graduate of the University of Alabama. She works as a recruiter at the Alabama Aviation College, a unit of Enterprise State Community College.
Strickland is a 2004 graduate of Enterprise High School, 2008 graduate of the University of Alabama and a 2010 graduate of the Gemological Institute of America in California. After completing the course of study, Strickland returned home to Enterprise to become a co-owner of Strickland Jewelers.
Judah and Strickland are active and involved in their respective communities and proud of their hometowns.
In February 2016, Strickland asked Judah to dinner at The Rawls Restaurant. “We sat there for hours talking and getting to know each other,” she recalled. In November the two went to Tuscaloosa to cheer on the Crimson Tide during the Iron Bowl. “Of course, we shared the “three big words” in our college town.” And the rest is history. On Dec. 16, 2017, after almost 2 years of dating, Strickland proposed to Judah at his house where the two will live. He also had a surprise party at his parent’s house with many close friends and family who helped celebrate the engagement.
“It was a night filled with great surprises and one I will remember the rest of my life.” Judah said along this journey she has learned some life lessons. “One is that the best surprises come in a box from Strickland Jewelers,” she said with a smile. “Another is that Byron and I are so blessed to not only love each other but to have many others who love us.”
The future Mr. and Mrs. Strickland are excited to start their lives together in Enterprise.
