Claudia Wigglesworth is seeking re-election to the office of mayor. She says, “Daleville deserves a strong, proven leader.” She encourages citizens to “Check out the amazing progress of the past four years on Facebook at Claudia Wigglesworth Mayor of Daleville.”
Wigglesworth served 22 years in the U.S. Army retiring as a lieutenant colonel and a Gulf War veteran. Her military experience provides her the necessary skills to work efficiently and effectively in a wide range of operations and with diverse groups and individuals. She is capable of managing a multimillion dollar budget. Over the past four years she has positively transformed many operations of the city, worked collaboratively with regional officials to positively showcase the city and worked to strengthen the four areas outlined in her 2012 campaign of “TEAM Daleville”.
She believes these four core competencies must continue to be strong for Daleville to prosper:
T- teamwork. Utilize the 2015 City of Daleville Comprehensive Plan to synchronize the positive efforts of city employees, city departments, citizens, organizations and businesses of Daleville.
E- enforcement of laws, codes, ordinances and policies. Enforce established rules to ensure the city is a safe, secure, fair and just place to live, work and play.
A - accountability of city resources. Prepare and utilize an annual budget, determine short term and long term spending priorities.
M - marketing of the city. Take advantage of every opportunity and available media resource to showcase community assets such as location, high quality schools, affordable housing, economic opportunities and great people. Continuously communicate with stakeholders.
Wigglesworth is a life member of the Fort Rucker Chapter, Military Officers of America Association (MOAA) and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6020. She is a member of Daleville Baptist Church and the Daleville Chamber of Commerce. She is an active member and past president of the Daleville Lions Club and currently holds the position of 1st Vice District Governor for Multiple District 34C. She is married to Charlie Wigglesworth and has two stepsons, John (Diane) and Wayne (Kim) as well as six grandchildren.
When re-elected she pledges to continue to work with a spirit of cooperation to develop Daleville into the “City of Possibilities” outlined in the City of Daleville Comprehensive Plan.
