Two men were arrested and charged with burglary on Feb. 14 in relation to an earlier incident, according to Enterprise Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Billy Haglund.

The original incident took place on Feb. 10 when EPD officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Bleeker Street. The residence was under construction and two suspects cut copper wire from the residence, according to Haglund.

EPD detectives were able to identify the suspects with the help of the home owner and on Feb. 14, EPD detectives obtained and served arrest warrants on 33-year-old Jarett Patterson Ballard, of Daleville, and 31-year-old Matthew Everett Gilley, of Enterprise, according to Haglund.

Both men were charged with third-degree burglary and Gilley was also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both men were transported to the Coffee County Jail after their arrest and additional burglary charges may be pending.

The EPD thanked the Level Plains Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.

Enterprise Police Chief T.D. Jones would like to encourage residents to report suspicious persons or suspicious activity in new construction neighborhoods. Residents can call (334) 347-2222 to report non-emergency suspicious circumstances or call 911 for emergencies.
