Two men have been injured, one critically, after a late night shooting at a Newton nightclub Oct. 6.
According to a press release from the 33rd Judicial Wiregrass Violent Crime Drug Task Force, dispatchers began receiving several calls at about 2 a.m. about several subjects fighting at the Liquid Lounge Club in Newton.
Callers also advised several gunshots were heard in the parking lot. Reports soon followed that one subject was lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.
When authorities arrived on scene, they found a black male with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital and is considered to be in critical condition. Another black male received a gunshot wound to his upper arm area and sustained injuries not considered life threatening.
Authorities also located an additional two black males who had been physically assaulted during the altercation. Both victims were taken to a local hospital and released.
According to the press release, authorities processed the crime scene and conducted more interviews of witnesses and police will continue to follow all leads of this event as they come in.
A $500 reward has been offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the shooting suspect in the case.
