A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in connection with the May 7 shooting death of an Ozark man.
“We have some leads we will be following up on over the next few days and we wanted to insure we get all the information that is out there,” Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker said Friday, May 11. “So we are asking for the public’s help and will offer a reward of $1,000 to anyone providing information that leads to an arrest.”
Cornelius Crittendon, 33, was found dead in his Emma Avenue apartment in Ozark May 7 after law officers responded to a E911 call.
“We do believe this to be foul play,” Walker said May 7.
Walker asks anyone with information related to the death to call the OPD at (334) 774-5111 or (334) 774-2644. Tips may be emailed to [email protected].
Walker said that the victim’s body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for examination. “We have not received an official report from the Department of Forensic Sciences as of this date,” Walker said May 11.
Walker said that investigators recovered multiple pieces of evidence at the scene that indicated that foul play was a factor in the case and that police investigators are conducting interviews as part of the investigation. “We do expect to confirm foul play and ultimately be declared a murder investigation,” Walker said.
Walker credits the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, the Ozark-Dale County E911 Dispatch Center, the Ozark Fire Department, the Dale County Coroner’s Office, the Dale County District Attorney’s Office and the OPD for their assistance in connection with the investigation.
