Fort Rucker welcomed a new deputy to the commanding general during a June 27 assumption of responsibility ceremony at the U.S. Army Aviation Museum.
Col. (Ret.) Russell B. Hall assumed responsibility of the senior leadership position and was welcomed to the installation by Brig. Gen. Michael D. Lundy, U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence and Fort Rucker commanding general, during the ceremony.
Lundy said Hall, who is a retired colonel, would bring a wealth of experience to the Fort Rucker team, including nearly 40 years of experience as both an active-duty soldier and a civilian employee.
“Russ knows money, he know community relations, he knows how to manage and develop our civilian workforce,” Lundy said. “He knows how to maximize the performance of large organizations. He’s passionate and he knows how to navigate the halls of the pentagon, figuratively and literally.”
Hall comes to Fort Rucker from his most recent assignment as the director of resources in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management, where he was responsible for oversight, management and execution of requirements development for all installation management programs for U.S. Army installations.
His other prior assignments include Director of Installation Management Command for the North East Region and facilitating the establishment of the IMCOM European Region.
Lundy said he was confident that Hall would enjoy his time at USAACE and Fort Rucker.
“I’m fully confident that you are going to find this the most rewarding assignment of your career,” Lundy said. “There is no better place to live or serve.”
As the deputy to the commander, he will assess and implement the commanding general’s strategic vision and integrate and align key organizational goals and priorities. His responsibility at USAACE and Fort Rucker is to acquire and administer human, financial, material and informational resources.
During the ceremony, Hall said he would be focused on the future of Army Aviation.
“We are under some austere times as we make some budgetary changes, but that just means that leaders step up and make tough decisions, and look forward and be forward thinking,” Hall said. “That’s what they’ve asked to us to do as a command team, to look forward…and to move forward and do the best we can.”
