An Ozark man has been arrested in connection with two separate armed robberies at the Microtel of Ozark.
Deondre Jermaine Howard, 22, is in Dale County Jail charged with two counts of robbery first degree, according to Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker.
Walker said that during the Ozark Police Department’s investigation of the robberies on Dec. 4 and Dec. 31, 2017, multiple items of physical evidence and surveillance videos determined that the suspect committed both armed robberies.
Walker said that OPD investigators were notified May 2 by the Department of Forensic Science that a positive DNA match came back to some physical evidence that had been collected from both crime scenes.
Howard was arrested May 4, Walker said, crediting the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for their assistance with the case.
The case is still under investigation by the Ozark Police Department, Walkers said.
