A 34-year-old Pinckard native turned himself in to Dale County sheriff’s officials Monday. Billy Ray Scott II is now charged with attempted murder and shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.
Capt. Mason Bynum with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office said Scott is being held without bond in the county jail. A first appearance hearing was scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday, after the Sun-Courier’s press time.
Scott allegedly shot another man multiple times on Nov. 27. Ozark-Dale County E911 received a call Friday reporting that a male victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at Pecan Place Apartments located on Co. Rd. 25 in the Grimes Community. Grimes is located in the southeastern part of Dale County.
The statement said Dale County deputies along with members of the Midland City Police Department responded to the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Bynum said, as of Tuesday, he had no updates on the victim.
Scott is a native of Pinckard, according to Bynum, but he does not currently live there.
Attempted Murder is a Class A felony. If found guilty, Scott could be sentenced to 20 or more years in prison. Shooting into an unoccupied vehicle is a Class C felony.
