Three Ozark men have been arrested and one is still being sought by the Ozark Police Department in connection with the Jan. 6 shooting into an occupied building in the Briarhill Court area in Ozark.
Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker said that arrested are Michael D. Stanford, Jamaree R. Beaty and Michael D. Fuller.
Stanford, 24, and Beaty, 25 are both charged with attempted murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, first-degree robbery, certain persons forbidden to a possess pistol/firearm, attempting to elude law enforcement and first-degree criminal mischief.
Fuller, 22, is charged with three counts of attempted murder.
Authorities are searching for Delmonte D. Stewart, 26, who faces charges of attempted murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling and attempting to elude law enforcement.
Walker said the OPD received notification Jan. 6 that multiple rounds of ammunition were shot into a building in the Briarhill Court area. The caller was able to give a good description of the occupants of the white four door passenger car involved in the incident.
“Moments later a Dale County Sheriff’s Deputy encountered the suspects’ vehicle and a vehicle pursuit ensued,” Walker said. “After a short pursuit the suspects abandoned the vehicle in the 200 block of County Road 20 near the Ewell Community and were last seen running into a wooded area just off County Road 20.”
Walker credited the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers, the Alabama Game and Fish Department, the Dale County Sheriff’s Office and Ozark/Dale County E911 with assisting the OPD.
The case is still under investigation by the Ozark Police Department, Walker said.
