The Coppinville eighth-grade football team earned a 32-14 victory Sept. 29 against Admiral Moorer.
Jalen Cunningham broke a scoreless tie with 7:49 in the second quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run.
The two-point play failed, but Coppinville had a 6-0 lead.
The Eagles added to their lead when Cam Foley found Doug Williams on a 39-yard touchdown pass. Cunningham made the two-point play, and CJHS led 14-0 with 59 seconds to play in the second quarter.
J.T. Shields grabbed his second interception of the game on the last play of the first half, and the Eagles led 14-0 at the break.
Coppinville widened its margin to 20-0 when Foley connected with Williams again, and Williams hauled in a 65-yard touchdown strike with 4:26 in the third quarter.
The Eagles found the end zone again with their air attack when Foley threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to Shields.
The two-point conversion failed, but Coppinville had a 26-0 advantage with 2:01 left in third and carried its advantage into the fourth.
The Eagles got the ball back and scored on a 6-yard run from Cunningham. The conversion failed, but CJHS led 32-0 with 7:52 left in the game.
Admiral Moorer ruined the Eagles' shutout with a 57-yard touchdown pass with 6:32 to play.
It cut the Coppinville lead to 32-14 with a 4-yard touchdown run and a two-point pass with 5:41 left in the final frame.
Williams stripped the ball after a long run by Admiral, and returned it to the Eagles' 46 before CJHS ran out the clock for the win.
