Dale sheriff identifies missing woman

A woman missing since Saturday has been identified.

The body of Anna Waller, 36, of Samson has been located, according to Dale County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Mason Bynum.

Bynum said that Aug. 1 at approximately 2:14 p.m., the Ozark Dale County E911 received a call about missing person at the Clayhatchee Boat Ramp on Highway 92.

Multiple deputies along with Clayhatchee Police responded to the area. At approximately 5:36 p.m. a rescue diver located the body of a female approximately 75 yards downstream of the boat ramp.

Waller’s body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy. “We believe that alcohol played a role in the incident,” Bynum said.

“We were assisted by the Clayhatchee Police, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Clayhatchee Fire, Daleville Department of Public Safety, Wicksburg Fire, Houston County Rescue Unit, Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams, Alabama Game and Fish and the Dale County Coroner’s Office,” Bynum said.
