Football schedules during the COVID-19 era are ever evolving and Enterprise High School just saw another change as the Sept. 25 game with Early County has been cancelled.
Enterprise and Early County agreed to a game earlier in the summer after Enterprise’s game with Miami Somerset Academy was cancelled and now Early County has cancelled that game, The Sunhas confirmed.
Enterprise coach Rick Darlington and Athletic Director Trent Trawick said that the school is working on replacing next week’s home game.
“We are working diligently to replace that game but we don’t know what that is going to look like this late,” Trawick said. “We are looking to try and replace that game, though.”
Trawick said that EHS was currently unaware as to the reason behind the cancellation and that Early County simply said that they would not be able to make the trip. Early County High, however, announced the cancellation on its official Facebook page by saying a player on an opposing team tested positive for COVID-19. Guidelines in Georgia now require Early County’s entire team to enter a 14-day quarantine leading to the cancellation.
A similar incident happened two weeks ago and Enterprise was forced to move the Sept. 11 game with Davidson to Mobile to ensure it could be played. EHS would like to keep a home game for Sept. 25.
More information will be released if or when a replacement is lined up.
