As the fall gets closer, the Daleville Lady Hawks’ softball, basketball and volleyball players closed out summer workouts this week.
Daleville athletes were unable to do sports specific practices or drills during workouts and were limited to conditioning, agility and weight training, but Lady Hawk basketball coach Zach Kelley said it was just good to be back at all.
“It’s been good and we had a good turnout despite all that’s going on,” Kelley said. “We did a lot of conditioning and agility and strength training. Getting in the weight room and getting some conditioning in was a big step in the right direction.”
Kelley not only was working with his Lady Hawks but as Daleville searches for a new volleyball and softball coach, Kelley also worked with those players in summer workouts.
“I did a lot of stuff with the volleyball and softball team, too. It was an adjustment period but we were all doing the same things anyway so it worked out,” Kelley said. “I’m just glad we could see everybody and have some kind of connection and team building with everyone.”
