So, I am kind of tired of hearing about the presidential election.
I am ready to move on now that Nov. 8 has come and gone. In fact, I think many of us are.
To help us with this, I decided to tell you all a story about a Kit Kat bar.
You are probably thinking, “What? Has she lost her mind? Why would she write about a Kit Kat bar?”
Well, I am telling you this story because it is about being happy and kind.
The Associated Press wrote a story about a man in Pennsylvania whose car was “broken into.” He apparently left his car unlocked with a Kit Kat sitting in the cup holder.
The man was in college and was just planning on making a quick trip into his dorm. When he came back to his car, his Kit Kat was gone. In its place was a note.
According to the Associated Press, the note said something to the extent of, “I love Kit Kats so I checked your door and it was unlocked. Did not take anything other than the Kit Kat. I am sorry and hungry.”
Like any millennial, the man tweeted a photo of the note, most likely while crying from losing his Kit Kat and laughing at the situation.
Now, I am not sure if you guys and gals are aware of this, but big companies like Hershey (the maker of the Kit Kat) monitor social media for complaints and things like this situation.
Hershey apparently saw the tweet and responded to the man’s loss by giving him 6,500 Kit Kat bars. The man, according to the Associated Press, handed out Kit Kat bars around his college campus.
Now, there are a few things that I want you readers to take away from this story.
One, Hershey makes fantastic snacks. I am sure you were already aware of this fact, but I felt it needed to be shared. In fact, I can almost understand stealing the Kit Kat bar during a time of hunger because they are so fantastic.
Two, I would like to think that the guy found humor in the situation, and millennials love to put anything funny on social media. That could be why he put a picture of the note on Twitter. It may be an ironic, twisted sort of humor, but it was humor nonetheless.
Three, Hershey responded in the best way when it learned that one of its customers suffered a loss of chocolaty goodness. They sent him an abundance of chocolate bars.
Finally, the man in question did not keep the 6,500 chocolate bars to himself. He shared his gift with others. Who wouldn’t want a chocolate bar?
Whenever something bad happens to you, look at the good in the world. Find humor in a bad situation. You may just find blessings in your sad times.
When you do see your blessings, you may find them in abundance. You may receive them in abundance. Don’t take them for granted.
In fact, do like the man who received over 6,000 Kit Kat bars did. Share.
Share your blessings; bring a smile to someone’s face. You never know who might need a nice thing to happen to them.
Actually, there is one last lesson you readers could take from this story: lock your vehicle doors. Not everyone will be nice enough to only take your Kit Kat.
