“I want to thank the board for hiring me three years ago. It has been an incredible journey and I’ve grown as an educator.”
With those words Enterprise City Schools Superintendent Dr. Camille Wright announced her retirement at the Enterprise Board of Education meeting Tuesday, Oct. 25.
Wright’s retirement is effective Dec. 1. Her announcement came amid widespread social media posts that circulated Monday after Wright reportedly announced her retirement during a principal’s luncheon.
Wright was hired as superintendent in 2013 by a unanimous vote of the board. She is the first female superintendent in the history of the school system.
She previously served as the director of instruction at Madison City Schools.
EBOE President Dorothy Richardson said an interim superintendent would be named before Wright officially retires.
