Many organizations, businesses and more are coming together in the City of Enterprise to help others in their time of need.

Enterprise High School and Enterprise businesses have been taking donations for the victims of flooding throughout Louisiana.

Enterprise High School accepted donations from Aug. 17 to Aug. 24. All donations were given to the American Red Cross.

"Our hearts go out to the flood victims in Louisiana," EHS Principal Matt Rodgers said about the school's fundraising efforts. "We always talk about being humble, kind and compassionate. We try and reinforce the values that our students' parents have taught in regard to taking care of your neighbor. We know firsthand the devastation that a natural disaster can bring to a community. So many people from all over the country came to our aid during our most difficult days in 2007. We are delighted that we can give back and help our friends in LA."

Badcock Home and Furniture is also accepting donations, such as baby items and non-perishable food items, for flood victims. Owner Kim Maphis said she would accept donations as long as she's asked to by those in need.

Maphis said she has accepted donations for those in need in the past.

"We just believe in helping people," Maphis said. "If we can help, we will."

Another designated donation drop off is Sam Boswell Honda. In a press release, owner O'Neal Boswell said he wanted the community to come together to help others like it did for the victims of the Elba flood.

“The local community responded so quickly and so powerfully when we served as a drop-off point for the Elba flood victims, and I wanted to help connect those wanting to help and those in need again,” Boswell said.

Donations of baby items, clothes, sample size toiletries, sheets and blankets, cleaning supplies, pet food and other items, disposable plates and utensils, batteries, phone chargers and more are needed.

Zaxby's is also accepting donations for flood victims through Sept. 4. Donations of non-perishable food items, baby items, hygiene products, cleaning supplies and clothes will be accepted.

General Manager Jadia Carter said she could not imagine what the flood victims were experiencing.

"You don't think things like this can happen to you, but then, in the blink of an eye, everything you've worked so hard for and everything is gone," Carter said. "I just can't imagine if it were to happen to me personally. So, I just feel bad for those people. I have a one-year-old son, so I know there are kids out there that have lost everything and don't have clothes, school supplies or even food. I want to do this to help these people."
