Coffee County Jail Administrator Richard Moss resigned Friday amid an investigation in Covington County.
According to the Andalusia-Star News, an investigation is under way on Moss and River Falls Mayor Mary Hixon, who he has lived with for about 10 years.
The Star-News reports the investigation is regarding a piece of property sold to Moss by the mayor without the permission of the town council.
Covington County District Attorney Walt Merrell has refused to comment on the investigation.
However, the Star-News reported after the Tuesday election, three search warrants were issued by the Covington County District Attorney's Office on the River Falls town hall, Hixon's workplace and another at Hixon and Moss' home.
