Police have arrested a man in connection with a Tuesday afternoon homicide.
The homicide appears to be a drug deal gone bad, according to law enforcement.
Joshua Mark Richard, 33, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 23. He is being charged with homicide and is being held at the Coffee County Jail. No bond has been set at this time.
On Tuesday, Dec. 22, a passerby called local law enforcement around 1:30 p.m. after finding a body slumped over in a vehicle at the Coffee County Stockyard on County Road 248, according to New Brockton Police Chief Brian Lusher.
The vehicle was described as a small, burgundy Ford car. It was not the victim's vehicle, though it is not a stolen vehicle.
Three other vehicles, one pickup, one SUV and one car, have also been brought in for processing.
The victim has been identified as Joey Chandler, 26. He died execution style from a single gunshot wound to the head, according to Coffee County Chief Deputy Ronnie Whitworth.
Whitworth said that the shooting happened at the stockyard. The victim's body was not moved there. The homicide has no relation to the site, according to Lusher.
The wound suggested a small-caliber weapon. The weapon has not been recovered.
According to Whitworth, it appears as if the suspect and victim knew each other, but were not friends. No motive for the homicide has been determined at the time.
There could be more arrests as the investigation continues, according to Whitworth.
The incident is still under investigation by the New Brockton Police Department, the Coffee County Sheriff's Department and the Enterprise Police Department.
