The Enterprise Board of Education is in the process of selecting a Chief School Financial Officer (CSFO) from five candidates who interviewed for the position Feb. 28.
According to Enterprise City Schools Superintendent Aaron Milner, the finalists are Alberto Reid, Bruce Keel, Brian Stewart, Linda Banks or Daniel Theis, one of whom will likely be offered the position sometime this week.
Reid, a Talladega College graduate, currently works as an accountant for Birmingham City Schools and is a former district executive for the Boy Scouts of America.
Keel graduated from Auburn University with a bachelors’ degree in business administration and majored in accounting.
He currently works as a Certified Public Accountant in Enterprise.
Stewart has served as the CSFO for Dale County Schools for three years.
Stewart is a CPA and worked for 10 years with the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts before taking his position in Dale County.
Banks has served as the CSFO for Opp City Schools for the past 13 years.
She graduated from Faulkner University with bachelors’ degree in business administration.
Theis is a research manager for McAleer Solutions, an educational management company that works with several school systems throughout Alabama.
The board met in executive session Tuesday to discuss the matter and Milner said the board should have a decision sometime by the end of the week.
However, an announcement won’t be made until the selected candidate has accepted the position and negotiated a contract with the board.
Once hired, the CSFO’s job is to manage the finances of the school system, which includes but is not limited to securing, receiving and managing federal, state and local tax funds, which are essential to school operations.
In other news, the board approved the following personnel changes during a Feb. 26 meeting:
The board approved the resignations of John Ayers, special education teacher at Enterprise Junior High School and Steve Smith, Chemistry teacher at Enterprise High School.
The board also agreed to employee Shawna Copeland as a special education teacher at Enterprise High School.
