An Elba woman is in jail today after being arrested by Coffee County deputies for attempting to commit a controlled substance crime.

On Sept. 22, Coffee County narcotics officers started receiving texts requesting illegal narcotics.

Investigators arranged a meeting time and place and at approximately 4:30 p.m., investigators and deputies met at Legion Field in Elba and identified Shurrel Marlene Thomas, 27, of Elba.

Thomas was charged with attempting to commit a controlled substance crime, which is a Class C felony.

Thomas was bonded out of the Coffee County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
