The Enterprise Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the 2013 Business Development Week from Feb. 25-March 2.

Events throughout the week will be centered on business, from writing resumes to networking.

On Feb. 25, at 2 p.m., the chamber will host a workshop called "Writing the Power Resume."

Chamber of Commerce President Phil Thomas said those attending are welcome to bring a bag lunch and learn how to better prepare a resume.

Alabama Career Center Programs will host an 11 a.m. workshop, Feb. 26, which will help employers with information about screening applicants, labor market information and tax issues. The chamber also recommends participants bring a bag lunch.

A luncheon, Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11:30 a.m., will feature guest speaker John Riley.

Riley is a former Auburn football player and Oakland Raider.

He currently tours as a motivation speaker, having spoken more than 10,500 times in 22 countries.

Tickets for the luncheon, hosted at Frist Baptist Church, are $15, and can be purchased in advance through the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce.

One-to-one business counseling, Feb. 28, from 1-4 p.m., will be conducted by the Troy Small Business Development Center. Private counseling sessions are free and by appointment only.

Call the chamber at 347-0581 to make an appointment or sign up for other workshops.

The Business Development Week will conclude with the 5th Annual Business Build & Bloom Expo," March 2.

The expo, hosted at the Enterprise Civic Center, will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will feature dozens of businesses.

Admission is free and door prizes will be awarded throughout the expo.

The event will also feature demonstrations including home staging, wreath making, container gardening and building projects.

Thomas said the goal of the expo is to show the public the variety of businesses in the Enterprise area and provide an opportunity for businesses to network with each other.

Businesses wishing to participate can find an application and more information at enterprisealabama.com.
