Deputies seize drugs, cash after routine traffic stop

A Brantley man is behind bars today after Coffee County Sheriff’s deputies made a routine traffic stop on the Highway 84 Bypass in Enterprise.

At approximately 1:53 a.m., April 26, deputies observed a vehicle run a red light.

Upon a search of the vehicle, deputies found 17 bags of cocaine for resale, seven bags of marijuana for resale and $1,400 in cash.

Jordan Devon Broughton, 34, of Brantley, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

  The cash and the vehicle were seized and the subject was placed in the Coffee County Jail and is awaiting bond.

Enterprise police officers also arrested Darryl Eugene Carter, 43, of Enterprise, for first-degree robbery.

According to Enterprise Police Department Public Information Officer Billy Haglund, at about 3 a.m. police received a call that an individual had been robbed at knifepoint in the parking lot of McDonalds. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.

After getting a description from the victim, police located the suspect shortly after and arrested him.

Two Enterprise residents were arrested in Daleville April 25, for minor in possession of alcohol and possession of a controlled substance after a routine traffic stop on Daleville Avenue. 

At about 2 a.m., Dustin Ryan Foxworth, 20, and Jason Robert Zayas, 20, were stopped for a traffic violation. Police reported smelling alcohol and seeing alcohol in plain view.

After further investigation, police found the suspects in possession of what is believed to be ecstasy and acid.

The two were charged and transported to the Dale County Jail. The following day Foxworth was released on a $5,000 bond and Zayas was released on a $6,000 bond. 

 In other crime, area police have made several arrests during the past week. According to Coffee County Jail records, police have arrested Keenan Artez Phillips, 21, of Elba, promotion of prison contraband; Simon Truitt, 33, of New Brockton, third-degree burglary; Xavier Vaughn McGowan, 21, of Elba, receiving stolen property; Marcus Anton Snell, 30, of Enterprise, receiving stolen property; Christopher Evans, 19, of Enterprise, breaking and entering a motor vehicle; Johnny L. Roberts, 66, of Enterprise, possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, third-degree domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia; Robert Lee Wilson, 50, of Enterprise, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; Luis Roberto Almaguer, 20, of Enterprise, four counts of fraudulent use of a credit card; Scottie Jerome McCray, 52, of Enterprise, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and parole violation; and Skylar Wyatt Thames, 21, of Enterprise, first-degree possession of marijuana.
