Two days after being struck by a vehicle in the 1500 block of Highway 84, the victim, 21 year-old Lilian Santelices-Retamal, of Daleville, died in the hospital.
According to police, at about 10:30 p.m., Dec. 15, the victim was walking in the middle of the roadway near Green Tree Apartments when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. It is unknown why the victim was walking in the roadway.
The vehicle, a 2004 Suzuki XL-7, driven by Milesa Lee Deloose, 33, of Enterprise, was traveling eastbound along the highway and merged into the center lane to make a left hand turn when the pedestrian was struck.
The victim was transported by helicopter to Southeast Alabama Medical Center for treatment before succumbing to her injuries earlier this week.
No charges have been filed at this time.
Enterprise Police traffic investigators are still investigating the accident.
