Thousands came out to Fort Rucker to celebrate the nation's birthday July 1 for the Wiregrass Freedom Fest. Area residents and military families enjoyed helicopter displays, food and craft vendors, a live performance by the 98th Army "Silver Wings" Band and a fireworks show.
