Enterprise Water Works officials have announced that a ‘Water Update’ mailer apparently received by city residents this week is not in any way affiliated with the municipal water system.

Utilities Office Manager Kristi Donaldson said her office has received an influx of calls and visits from residents who received the mailers, which asks customers to call another number within a certain time frame.

The 5 ½ x 8 ½ yellow cards, with large black lettering, also contain a very small disclaimer at the bottom saying that the sender is “Not affiliated with any local or state municipal water company or health department.”

Explaining that the card is a commercial advertising for a private business, Donaldson said a company acronym and mailing address is also listed on one side of the card.

Many residents, however, either did not see the disclaimer or cannot read the small lettering. She said customers who read the larger message on the card were concerned about water safety and supply but she assures citizens that city water is available and safe to drink or otherwise use.
