Payne, Quattlebaum win CJHS’s B.F. Garth Awards

In addition to these accolades, CJHS also gives out the B.F. Garth Award, Cooper Award and the Principal’s Award.

Nathan Gillespie received the Principal’s Award from CJHS Principal Matt Humphrey.

Gillespie had the highest grade point average and was named a top math, science, English and social studies student in addition to earning the second highest accelerated reader score for the year with 569.1 points.

The Cooper Award is named after longtime Coppinville band director and current city councilman William Cooper.

Cooper and CJHS band director Isaac Wimberly presented the award to Hayes Scarbrough.

Each year, the B.F Garth Award, named after Coppinville’s first principal, goes to the most well-rounded male and female students who have also excelled academically.

This year’s awards went to Anna Beth Payne and Jacob Quattlebaum.
