The city of Elba has recently joined the Wiregrass Economic Development Corporation, which connects it with a network of other communities and industries with the goal of furthering the economic development of the region.
Wiregrass EDC Director Jonathan Tullos said the addition of Elba strengthens the position of the county as a whole in the industrial marketplace.
"What's good for Elba is good for Enterprise, and what's good for Enterprise is good for Elba," Tullos said of the county's two largest municipalities.
Tullos said Elba is "ripe for business" with a lot of available properties for incoming industry, including a 40,000 square-foot building in the city's 130-acre industrial park.
"We appreciate the opportunity to help them market their city, find potential clients and have their existing industry expand," Tullos said.
The Wiregrass EDC has already been assisting automotive part manufacturer Inzi, Inc. with grant opportunities to help in its expansion that will provide 100 new jobs for the city.
"Mayor (Mickey) Murdock and the city council in Elba are doing some great things to bring the community together to work on projects to redevelop downtown, put in infrastructure, make improvements and cut back where they need to," Tullos said. "They're really helping to put Elba in a good financial position to attract industry and keep it moving."
