Citing Greg Faught’s experience, loyalty, trustworthiness, honesty and humility, Enterprise Board of Education Member Dr. Danny Whitaker nominated the next superintendent of Enterprise City Schools at a board meeting Tuesday, March 21.

EBOE Member Gloria Jones seconded the motion nominating Faught for the ECS top slot. EBOE Member Robert Doerer said that the decision had been difficult because each of the candidates were outstanding but that Faught’s experience with the schools’ capital plan had been a deciding factor for him. EBOE Member Bert Barr cast the only vote against Faught.

Four candidates for the position of Enterprise City Schools Superintendent were interviewed by the Enterprise Board of Education Friday, March 17.

Vying for the ECS top slot, in alphabetical order, were Dr. Chris Cox, Oxford City Schools Assistant Superintendent; Faught, ECS Interim Superintendent; Zel Thomas, ECS Coordinator of Student Affairs; and, Dr. Jason Yohn, Pelham High School Principal.

The individual interviews, which were open to the public, lasted one hour and 15 minutes each and consisted of opening and closing statements by each candidate and EBOE questions as time permitted.

The interviews, in their entirety, were videoed by the ECS System Technologist Brad Johnson and are available for viewing at the school system’s website: http://www.enterpriseschools.net.

The four finalists had been selected by the three-member search committee from a field of 10 applicants and were announced Feb. 24 at a special called meeting of the search committee, which was comprised of EBOE members Robert Doerer and Bert Barr and EBOE attorney Merrill Shirley.

Faught was named interim ECS superintendent at an EBOE meeting Nov. 29, 2016 and has served as ECS acting superintendent since the Oct. 29, 2016 announcement by then ECS Superintendent Dr. Camille Wright that she would retire effective Dec. 1, 2016 from the post she had held since 2013.
