A missing Daleville woman was found in Dothan, Nov. 13, after being arrested by the Dothan Police Department.
According to Dothan Public Information Officer Sgt. Rachel David, Dothan police were called to a motel to investigate a possible theft in which Paula Poston, 34, of Daleville, became a suspect.
David said during the investigation when officers asked Poston for identifying information, she told police she had no identification in possession and her name was Ginger Roberts.
Officers ran a routine check and discovered outstanding warrants for Ginger Roberts for public intoxication and drug paraphernalia, at which time she identified herself as Paula Poston.
David said a new check was ran under the name of Paula Poston, which revealed outstanding warrants and a missing “be on the lookout.”
Poston was then sent to the Dothan City Jail where investigators took fingerprints and pulled photos.
Investigators found the suspect matched prints and photographs for both names.
According to David, the Daleville Police Department contacted Dale County and discovered the Dothan Police Department’s findings.
Daleville Police Department Lt. Kenny Jackson said Poston had been missing for more than a year.
“A family member reported her missing on Aug. 12, 2011,” Jackson said. “Her family had not heard from her in weeks. They just didn’t know where she was."
Daleville police said Poston is believed to have gone missing after warrants were issued for her arrest for failure to appear in court on Nov. 28, 2011.
Poston had originally been charged for false reporting to a police officer, Jackson said.
David said the Department of Public Safety ran Poston’s latent prints for full comparison and confirmed the same prints for Ginger Roberts, Paula Poston and three additional aliases.
Officers were unable to obtain enough evidence to confirm the theft or charge the suspect with theft charges.
However, the suspect was booked in the Dothan City Jail for public intoxication and drug paraphernalia warrants.
Roberts is set to be released on Christmas Eve at which time she will be released to Dale County.
“The bottom line is while we may never know which name is her ‘birth given’ name,” David said in an email. “She has assumed both identities and will serve time with us for charges received as Ginger Roberts and then be released to Dale County to face charges received as Paula Poston.”
