John Summers embraces Deveda Johnson 10 years after he was the first face she saw following the tornado that hit Enterprise, damaging St. Beulah Baptist Church where she stayed during the storm. According to Johnson, after trying to find a light to make it outside from the church, Summers told her and two others to not light a match because of an open gas line. Summers, who was with the Level Plains Volunteer Fire Department at the time, said he was only doing his job. He and another first responder walked through several streets while Enterprise first responders provided assistance at Enterprise High School immediately after the tornado.
