Local law enforcement responded to a potential bomb scare today at the Enterprise-Fort Rucker gate.

During a random vehicle check at about 11:30 a.m., a military working dog alerted to something suspicious in a vehicle.

According to Fort Rucker Public Affairs, the gate was immediately closed to inbound and outbound traffic and as a precaution the Dothan Explosives Ordnance Disposal specialist were called to assist Fort Rucker first responders.

Officials from Dale County Sheriff's Department, Coffee County Sheriff's Department and Level Plains Police Department were called to assist with traffic control.

The vehicle in question was thoroughly searched with no findings.

The scene was cleared and the gate was reopened.

"We would like to thank the local communities for their assistance in responding to today's incident," said the public affairs release. "Although nothing was found today, this highlights that our security measures work and that we take every incident very seriously. Our biggest concern is the safety of those who live and work on Fort Rucker."
