He may have been the last artist to perform, but concert promoter Rendy Lovelady knew what he was doing when he booked Kid Rock as the final act.

The somewhat lackadaisical, sun burned crowd kicked their lawn chairs to the side and danced, sang and screamed for Kid Rock’s entire set.

A shadow of the cool Southern-rocker could be seen behind a sheet before he exploded down the runway singing “Don’t Stop Believin.”

Having the opportunity once again to photograph Kid Rock was amazing, but spotting him behind a lens and keeping him in focus is not easy.

He must have made his way up and down the runway about a dozen times during the short time I was allowed to capture him on stage. The self-proclaimed 40-year-old kicked, squatted, juggled and sent the BamaJam crowd into frenzy like no others.

I think one of my co-workers said it best, “there is just something about him. He is just that bad boy that some girls fantasize about and some guys want to imitate.”

Some BamaJammers were convinced he would share the stage with Sheryl Crow, who performed right before Kid Rock, but it never happened. In 2009, Kid Rock surprised the crowd by bringing Kellie Pickler out on stage to sing, but this time it was all about Kid — and he didn’t disappoint.
