Level Plains man arrested on child pornography charges

A Level Plains man remains in Dale County Jail on no bond charged with the production of child pornography.

Coolidge Brown Jr., 54, was arrested by Dale County Sheriff’s investigators Feb. 10 and charged with nine counts of production of pornography involving a minor.

Dale County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Capt. Mason Bynum said Wednesday that law enforcement investigators executed a search warrant on Brown’s residence in Level Plains and recovered numerous pornographic images depicting a minor.

“Investigators also recovered multiple hidden surveillance cameras and other devices used to capture the images,” Bynum said. “Investigators are currently processing multiple electronic storage devices and are still recovering additional images of child pornography.”

Bynum said during the search, law officers also recovered property possibly stolen from Fort Rucker.

Fort Rucker CID personnel have joined the investigation into the theft, Bynum said.

“We are still processing the evidence but we have spoken with Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams and we fully expect to charge Brown with numerous additional counts of production of child pornography,” he added.

The Dale County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Level Plains Police Department, Enterprise Police Department and the Fort Rucker CID Office.
