Alabama Representative Steve Clouse presented Windham Elementary School and the Daleville music program with $2,000 each.

The funds come from Alabama state discretionary funds, according to Clouse.

“I try every year to help all the schools in my district,” he said. “I’ve been doing this with Windham Elementary (School), now, for about 25 years.”

WES Principal Chris Mitten said the funds will most likely go to help the school’s PTO with future projects. The organization is currently working on adding exercise stations around the school’s track.

Clouse said he hoped the funds presented to the band could help after its trip to Tampa to participate in the Outback Bowl.

“There was a lot of money trying to be raised to pay for those expenses, so hopefully those (funds) will come in handy,” he said. “They’ve grown as a band,” he said. “Mr. (Mark) Nichols does a great job.

“Of course, the enrollment here at Windham… has just really grown here, so there’s a lot of needs here at WES. The PTO does a great job of trying to raise needed funds to improve the campus and the infrastructure here.”

Clouse said he is happy to support the schools and programs in Daleville.
