Each month, a different grade level at Windham Elementary School teaches the entire school one of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People in a performance at the Daleville City School’s gym.
Students at Windham Elementary School have been practicing the Leader in Me model, a process aimed at improving students’ performances and creating student leaders.
Part of the model is The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People — be proactive; begin with the end in mind; put first things first; think win-win; seek first to understand, then to be understood; be a good listener; synergize; and sharpen the saw.
First grade students at Windham Elementary School performed several songs April 25 to teach their peers about habit number six: Synergize. The songs, which included titles such as “Let’s Work Together,” “We are Family,” “Lean on Me,” and “The Synergizing Shuffle,” encouraged students to dance to lyrics about cooperation and teamwork.
The school’s practice of the Leader in Me model was praised by members of an external review team during the recent AdvancedEd accreditation process.
