No injuries in evening house fire

Enterprise Fire Chief Byron Herring inspects the house after firefighters put out the fire.

No residents were injured during a Tuesday evening, July 16, house fire that occurred on Lakewood Drive.

Homeowner Warren Bowron and Enterprise Fire Chief Byron Herring said a neighbor saw smoke and flames coming from the house and called 911 minutes before the owners had returned from an extended trip. The Enterprise Fire Department responded to the call.

“We pulled in the driveway about 5:20 p.m.,” Bowron said. “We rolled in, maybe, five minutes after that (call). In less than 20 minutes, they were here doing all they could.”

“When we got over here, the guys went in, and they couldn’t find anything inside the house,” Herring said. “Everything wound up being in the attic.”

He said the fire spread throughout the house, causing “considerable” damage.

“With fire, smoke and water, there is excessive damage to the house,” he said. “Nobody was in the house; nobody got hurt.”

Bowron said thanked the EFD for their work.

“They’re just the best there is,” he said. “As usual, they did a great job.”
